Douglas Nelson is a founding partner of Moustakas Nelson LLC, where he advises entrepreneurs, startups and emerging companies, and established enterprises on complex transactional matters at the convergence of technology, intellectual property, and commerce.
With more than fifteen years of practice spanning the technology, startup, art, and healthcare sectors, he brings both breadth of experience and precision of counsel to clients who demand more than conventional legal services.
Douglas regularly advises early-stage and growth-stage companies at every critical inflection point, from entity formation and founder agreements through private financing and strategic expansion. As companies scale, Douglas provides the commercial contract strategy and legal infrastructure necessary to support sustainable growth, positioning clients not merely for their next transaction, but for the trajectory beyond it.
Earlier in his career, Douglas served as a chancery law clerk, developing deep fluency in trust, estate, and fiduciary litigation, guardianship proceedings, and business disputes, including emergency injunctive relief and temporary restraining orders. That foundation informs his instinct for risk, his attention to structural detail, and his capacity to anticipate litigation exposure in transactional matters.
Douglas is also a recognized rare book professional with extensive experience in the art and collectibles market. He maintains an antiquarian bookshop and is a proud member of the Antiquarian Booksellers' Association of America and the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers, and has exhibited at the world's leading rare book fair, the New York International Antiquarian Book Fair. He counsels institutions, dealers, auction houses, and private collectors on the full spectrum of acquisition, transfer, and disposition matters, bringing legal rigor to a field where provenance, authenticity, and discretion are paramount.
Douglas's practice reflects a commitment to boutique, high-touch legal strategy — one built on the conviction that clients operating at the intersection of technology, commerce, and creative enterprise deserve counsel that is both technically precise and commercially astute. Drawing on a practice that spans digital innovation, capital formation, and the art and collectibles market, Douglas brings a rare breadth of perspective to every engagement, providing the kind of confident, integrated counsel that sophisticated clients and complex matters demand.
Douglas Nelson is a partner of the law firm Moustakas Nelson LLC and all legal services are provided through Moustakas Nelson LLC.
